Terms of Service

Chairside is a booking and payments marketplace connecting clients with beauty, grooming and spa professionals — salons, barbershops and independents — across South Africa, operated by Chairside (Pty) Ltd (2026/506906/07). By using Chairside you agree to these terms.

Bookings & deposits

A booking is confirmed by paying a 50% deposit through the platform. The balance is paid to the provider in person (or in full upfront). The provider has 2 hours to confirm or decline a booking; if they decline, the deposit is refunded in full.

The service fee

A 9% service fee is added at checkout and paid by the client. It is never deducted from the provider — providers always receive 100% of their stated price.

Cancellations

Client cancellations are handled on a sliding scale by notice given: 3+ days before — full deposit refunded; 24–72 hours — 50% refunded; under 24 hours — 25% refunded; under 2 hours — no refund. A no-show forfeits the deposit to the provider. If the provider cancels, the client is always refunded in full. Refunds are processed within 3–5 business days.

Reviews & conduct

Only clients who completed a booking may review it. Reviews must relate to the booking, with no personal attacks or discriminatory content. Disputes may be raised within 24 hours of an appointment; Chairside reviews evidence from both sides and decides within 48 hours. See our Acceptable Use policy for platform conduct rules.

Providers

Providers set their own services and prices. Taking deposit-backed bookings requires identity verification and a connected payout account in the provider's own name. Independent professionals do not need a registered business to list.

General

Chairside may suspend accounts that break these terms or the law. These terms are governed by South African law. Nothing in these terms removes rights you have under the Consumer Protection Act or other legislation.
